Just Because

If you have been following my blog since it’s inception, you will know that Seth Godin and his tribe of Ruckusmakers are what inspired me to start writing.  Recently one of my fellow Ruckusmakers decided to do something extremely special and nice.  He put designed these beautiful journals where the cover captured the highlights of the weekend we spent together.  Then on top of that, he offered one for each of us, free of charge and he did it just because.

He didn’t have any ulterior motives, he wasn’t trying to sell them to us, he simply wanted to “give back” to the group of people that had inspired him.  This is the type of person that Seth has built his tribe with.  Selfless, positive, amazing people who just want to make the world a little better than when they came into it and want to help others around them to do the same.

This amazing journal reminded me that it is important to thank and give back to people that have inspired you and to do it just because.  Don’t do things because you expect something in return.  Do them for the sake of doing them.  If you constantly are doing things for the expectation of something in return, you will be disappointed, plus it won’t feel good.  It feels much better to do things for the sake of doing something good. The more good you put out into the universe, the more good the universe will bring your way.

So thank you Dean, for this amazingly beautiful journal.  As I run my fingers over the words on the cover, I am reminded of the special weekend we all spent together.  I am also reminded of so many of the great lessons that we all learned from Seth that weekend.  I will cherish it always.

P.S. everyone reading this should check out Dean’s company blëzoo, he has made some really awesome stuff other than this journal and I bet could make some awesome stuff for you and your company too.
